How HubSpot CMS serves pages to crawlers

HubSpot CMS pages are rendered on HubSpot's servers, so crawlers get the content in the HTML.

Pages and posts

  • In the editor's settings, set the page title, meta description and URL slug.
  • On Professional and Enterprise plans, use the SEO tool's recommendations to catch missing titles, descriptions, alt text and other issues; it can scan all live pages.
  • Use one H1 per page.
  • Link related posts together; HubSpot's topic tools help plan clusters of related content.

Technical settings

  • HubSpot generates a sitemap; check it in the website settings and submit it in Search Console.
  • Set up URL redirects in the domains and URLs settings when pages move.
  • Connect Google Search Console in HubSpot's SEO tool to see search data alongside pages.
  • Keep embedded forms and modules lightweight for speed.
  • Check robots.txt allows the AI search crawlers you want: OAI-SearchBot (ChatGPT search), Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot. See the AI crawler list and the robots.txt generator.
  • Check your host's or CDN's bot protection doesn't block them even when robots.txt allows them.
  • Make sure the main text is in the HTML the server sends. AI crawlers don't run JavaScript.
  • Avoid nosnippet and tiny max-snippet values on pages you want quoted; they also keep pages out of Google's AI Overviews.
