Schema markup checker: test a page's structured data
Google retired its Structured Data Testing Tool; this checker covers the same ground from a URL. We fetch the HTML your server sends (no JavaScript is run), list every JSON-LD block and its @type values including @graph, point to the line of any JSON syntax error, detect microdata and RDFa, and check each type that has a Google rich result against the properties Google documents as required and recommended. Correct markup makes a page eligible for rich results; Google says it doesn't guarantee they will show, and structured data is not a ranking boost.
Check a page's structured data
Check your page: free, about 20 seconds, no sign-in
What it checks
- JSON-LD blocks
- Every application/ld+json script, its @type list and nested @graph nodes, with the line number of any parse error.
- Microdata and RDFa
- Whether itemscope/itemtype or RDFa typeof markup is present, and which types it declares.
- Rich result properties
- Article, Product, Organization, LocalBusiness, BreadcrumbList, Review and AggregateRating, Event, Recipe, VideoObject, SoftwareApplication and JobPosting, checked against Google's documented required and recommended properties.
- Markup the page doesn't show
- Headlines, product names and FAQ questions in the markup that don't appear in the page's visible text.
- FAQ markup
- Flagged as no longer earning a rich result: Google stopped showing FAQ rich results in May 2026.
Check it yourself
Replace the URL with your page. This prints the JSON-LD in the raw HTML, which is what we read.
List the JSON-LD blocks in the HTML
If nothing prints but Google's Rich Results Test finds markup, it is added by JavaScript.
curl -s https://example.com/page | grep -o '<script[^>]*ld+json[^>]*>[^<]*' | headQuestions
Does schema markup improve rankings?+
Google doesn't say so. Its documentation says structured data makes a page eligible for rich results, and that it doesn't guarantee they'll appear. Treat it as a way to describe the page, not a ranking factor.
What happened to Google's Structured Data Testing Tool?+
Google retired it. Google's Rich Results Test checks Google's rich result types, and validator.schema.org checks schema.org syntax for every type. This checker gives you both views from a URL, without rendering JavaScript.
Are FAQ rich results still shown?+
No. Google's Search Central changelog says the FAQ rich result "will no longer appear in Google Search starting May 7, 2026", and in June 2026 that it "is no longer shown in Google Search results". FAQPage markup is still valid schema.org; it just no longer earns a rich result.
Why does my markup not show up here?+
We don't run JavaScript. If a plugin or tag manager adds the JSON-LD in the browser, it isn't in the HTML we receive. Google can render JavaScript; many AI crawlers can't, so server-side markup is the safer choice.
Is it free?+
Yes, with no sign-in. For the rest of the page (AI crawler access, content without JavaScript, indexability), run the free audit below.
