How GoDaddy Website Builder serves pages to crawlers

GoDaddy's builder publishes hosted pages with the text in the HTML, so crawlers can read it.

Checklist

  1. Run the builder's SEO tool for each page: it helps you write a title and description around the search terms you choose.
  2. Rewrite any generated text so it reads naturally and describes the page accurately.
  3. Give each page one clear heading and useful text, not only images.
  4. Add alt text to images.
  5. Verify the site in Google Search Console and submit the sitemap.
  6. Keep your business name, address and phone the same as on your Google Business Profile.

GoDaddy also sells separate SEO services. Whoever does the work, the basics are the same; see how to choose an SEO agency.

  • Check robots.txt allows the AI search crawlers you want: OAI-SearchBot (ChatGPT search), Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot. See the AI crawler list and the robots.txt generator.
  • Check your host's or CDN's bot protection doesn't block them even when robots.txt allows them.
  • Make sure the main text is in the HTML the server sends. AI crawlers don't run JavaScript.
  • Avoid nosnippet and tiny max-snippet values on pages you want quoted; they also keep pages out of Google's AI Overviews.
